A Petition to the American Physical Society for the Creation of a New Acronym (another, not as good, petition here)

We are petitioning the American Physical Society (APS) to form a new acronym on quantum theory, which we believe is long overdue, that would include foundational problems, quantum information, including quantum cryptography, quantum computing, and any other relevant subjects. We petition to abolish P.O.V.M. , an acronym that stands for the unfathomable, impossible to parse, jumble of words: Positive Operator Valued Measure, and to replace it with the more cuddly acronym R.I.-N.N.O., which stands for: Resolution of Identity by Non Negative Operators.

The Rhinoceros

by Odgen Nash

The rhino is a homely beast,

For human eyes he's not a feast.

Farwell, farewell, you old rhinoceros,

I'll stare at something less prepoceros.
